Making Change Weblogs

Swedish visitors

For the past two days, we have been hosting two researchers from a small university in Umea, Sweden. They are interested in learning how university innovation systems work in Northeast Ohio.

They contacted Bo Carlsson, an expert on regional innovation systems and a member of our economic department. You can read more about Bo's background here.

Yesterday, we focused on activities we are undertaking here at Case. Today, we are taking our visitors to Cleveland State to meet with Mark Tumeo, the University of Akron to meet with Wayne Watkins, and Kent State University to meet with researchers at the Liquid Crystal Institute.

Building global partnerships

Ashland University is building global partnerships to assist its local firms. REI is working with Ashland University to build these partnerships.

This Friday, we will be hosting a delegation from China at Weatherhead. It is part of a training program that Ashland University manages.

Colleges and universities in Northeast Ohio can play an important role in helping build the global networks that companies need to compete.

You can learn more about Ashland's efforts from this article and this article.
